An update...

Hey everyone!
Just a quick update.

This blog is very much alive and as am I- and I'm sorry I haven't posted a lot.
Truth is, for a few months I've very much been struggling with my mental and physical health, and these struggles have really manifested in me having no energy and not wanting to do anything.
I've been really stresssed with work as well, and honestly have felt like I've been going through the motions a lot, just trying to get through each day.
However, the past few weeks have been actually wonderful and I'm finally feeling motivated, I'm feeling refreshed, and I'm actually getting to rest a bit and have some me time.

I'm in the process of moving to a new flat where I can tidy and not live in a cluttered mess, and I'm also going to have a nice desk for once that I can actually sit at to blog. I'll be getting a new laptop soon and I'm going to get a more compact one so I can blog on the go more as well. I've started organising myself more and actually planning posts better with the help of the books I've bought thanks to my stationary addiction.

There's also a new season to dread look forward to in a few months, and I now have a boyfriend who wants me to teach him all about ice hockey! We watched the IIHF final together, which he really enjoyed, and has asked if we can go to some EIHL games this year and watch some Sens games together. Yes, he's going to be a Sens fan. Thanks to a twitter poll, you sick bastards decided he's got to suffer with the rest of us- I might post about his reactions to his first Sens game.
Hey, maybe one day I'll be able to actually explain goaltender inference to him (that's if anyone figures that out).

Finally, there will be stuff coming soon! I'm finally sorting my end of season review and also a mammoth post regarding how bizarre the situation around this team has been for the past 18 or so months.

Watch this space and don't forget about me like the Sens forgot what defence was this year!

About me

First of all, let me just say that if you are looking for polished, professional content, you may just want to close this tab and never come on this site again. I swear like a trooper, I use weird British idioms that none of you will probably understand, and a lot of this will be barely coherent rants about how much my favourite ice hockey team stresses me out. In other words, this blog will be as much of a mess as I am. And maybe even as much of a mess as the Ottawa Senators, who knows! Anyway, if you’re still with me, I thought for this intro post it would be easier to write an FAQ-style post, with the theme of hell, because us Sens fans are living in it. Who the hell are you? My name is Kelly, although I often go by Kel, and I’m currently 26. My pronouns are she/her, I’m a vegan, I’m agnostic, I’m unapologetically left wing, and I’m one of those greedy, fiendish, promiscuous bisexuals. I like alternative music and have several tattoos & piercings. I have ADHD so be prepa...

A recap of 2021/2022. Part 1: the Kelly edition

So here we are again. It's been a while hasn't it folks? A lot has happened in the last year and a half (ish), both in my life, and on/off the ice over in Ottawa, but I'll start with me first in this part 1. As per usual, I have to apologise for my absence, but I suppose I at least have several reasons for that now. Just to be clear- this is going to contain very little Sens content. This is also not intended to be a pity party. I don't write this for sympathy, but more to show you all what an absolute state my life has been in and the reasons for which I was not able to open up blogger until now. *** TW: health, mental health, neurodivergency, gross mention of flesh??? In 2020 I started my master's degree down south at the University of Reading. My last post, in early 2021 was written in a time where I was busy, and struggling, but coping. However, I was also in the UK's third lockdown, and at that point, slowly started to lose the ol' marbles. My course be...

Three UFA's, three weeks later.

With the trade deadline having passed three weeks ago now, I've decided to finally collect my thoughts on what happened, with a special mention to, sorry, review of, Pierre Dorion's fucking awful TSN1200 interview. I'm sorry for the delay with this post, I've had a lot going on and it's been hard to concentrate on writing. But here we go. Content warning here- if you aren't okay with swearing and anger, stop reading here because I AM PISSED OFF. The trades. So the Ottawa Senators actually went and set the whole bloody thing alight. They almost blew it up even. The Canadian Tire (fire) Centre is standing proud and tall in Kanata amongst the charred remains of the hockey team that just under two years ago were a goal away from the Stanley Cup Final. In June we shipped out Hoffman, September we lost Karlsson, and now Duchene, Dzingel & Stone are all gone. In this post I'm not really going to discuss the players we sent to other teams because...
